A team map of
thinking preferences dominance
looks like this

What is this measuring?

A team map plots each team member’s profile in relation to the Cerebral-Limbic & Left-Right MODES of the whole brain model.

It shows each team member’s preferences as a single position on the whole brain model.

It also shows how each team member relates to the modes dominance preferences of other team members.

So what?

This team map analysis should be used in conjunction with a team composite (and other team data) to provide a deeper examination of clusters and tribes in the team.

Those team members positioned nearest to the centre of the mode map are the translators who are most likely to be able to facilitate team processes (e.g. Sam, in the example above).

Those at the edges of the mode map are the potential synergists or disrupters.

The map also shows team members who may be isolated and enables exploration of the significance of this.

In the example above, some clusters can be seen (e.g. Sam; D. & Lynne; Sally & Paul) which might indicate some effective sub-groupings from the team to achieve discrete tasks.

Philip and Paul (and Mandy & Sam) represent important potential synergy in the team provided that they are integrated and differences are valued.

Otherwise the team may be sub-optimising its internal resources or operating in a fragmented way.

A great team building and self improvement aid

A team composite profile is a great team building aid as it stimulates many questions from which valuable learning and change can occur.

In particular, it does this in a very non-confrontational way.

In my experience of using it for team building purposes, very open and mature exploration of possibilities for self improvement and team improvement emerge and leave team members feeling motivated and closer.

Although it is a TEAM profile, don't underestimate the value it has for self help self development.

After all, a team is a collection of individuals and the choices they make.

Team improvement cannot occur if the individuals stay un-changed, with "business as usual" habits, so really valuable self improvement benefits emerge from the team composite profile.
