This is what a team composite profile looks like

What is this measuring?
A team composite profile shows each team member’s individual thinking profile superimposed on all the others. Click on this link to see what an INDIVIDUAL PROFILE looks like. It shows the range of thinking diversity in each quadrant; and it shows clusters and “spikes”. Along with a team map dominance profile, it provides another view of a team’s mental habits, thinking preferences and potential.
So what?
When compared with a team average profile, it may be used to contrast where spikes occur as this may indicate possible areas of unused talent in the team; or possible areas of conflict or potential. The size of gaps between profiles may indicate isolation within the team of some team members. Where there are clusters of like profiles this may indicate key team strengths or “tribes” that may be weakening the team.
In the example above, there are clusters of like profiles in quadrants A and B which the team may wish to examine in terms of: * how does this affect the team’s performance, relationships and potential? * are the clusters strengths or weaknesses?
Also, there is one team member with a profile of 100+ in quadrant D, with a gap of 30 points to the next highest profile in D. Is this individual valued and “used” effectively by the team or is he or she isolated? What, if anything, needs to be done differently to get the best contribution to the team’s purpose from this team member?
A great team building and self improvement aid
A team composite profile is a great team building aid as it stimulates many questions from which valuable learning and change can occur. In particular, it does this in a very non-confrontational way. In my experience of using it for team building purposes, very open and mature exploration of possibilities for self improvement and team improvement emerge and leave team members feeling motivated and closer. Although it is a TEAM profile, don't underestimate the value it has for self help self development. After all, a team is a collection of individuals and the choices they make. Team improvement cannot occur if the individuals stay un-changed, with "business as usual" habits, so really valuable self improvement benefits emerge from the team composite profile.
A team composite profile shows the similarities and differences in the thinking preferences of all team members. Click here to go to our Home page.
