Your beliefs are fundamental to who you are and how you interact with your world.
Beliefs - let's start with some definitions:
* a firm opinion
* an acceptance of something
* trust or confidence in something
* conviction
* accept something as true or as conveying truth
* have faith in
Yes, well........?
* Along with our values they create the filters on our perceptions and our communications with ourselves
* Our reality is the reality we create from them
* They can be empowering or limiting (thinking with conviction in limits creates limited people)
* They are states – that is, internal representations that govern behaviour
* They are formed from our environment and: ~ our experiences ~ our knowledge ~ our past results ~ our expectations of the future
* They start out as incantations- that is, messages communicated internally with emotion and physiology, which “wires” the brain
* They determine feelings
Studies have revealed that achievers have 7 major convictions in their patterns of excellence:
* everything happens for a reason and a purpose, and it serves us (think in possibilities rather than limits)
* there is no such thing as failure, there are only results (what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?)
* whatever happens, take responsibility
* it’s not necessary to understand everything to be able to use everything
* other people are our greatest resource
* work is play
* there is no abiding success without commitment
As with our values, make your convictions explicit from time to time and use challenging questions to boost your self esteem and returns on your self help self improvement investments. In addition, you may use self hypnosis to strengthen or change your beliefs.
